Terms of Service
The rules for using Backchannel to send and answer paid requests. Please read them before connecting X or funding an escrow.
Last updated August 29, 2026Be honest, protect your account, send lawful requests, and never share wallet secrets. Payments are made through a public smart contract—not a reversible card payment.
Agreement and eligibility
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Backchannel (“Backchannel,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of backchannel.click and its related applications (the “Service”). By accessing the Service, connecting an X account, linking a wallet, or funding or answering a request, you accept these Terms.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into contracts. You may not use the Service if doing so is prohibited where you live or if you are subject to sanctions or restrictions that make the transaction unlawful.
What Backchannel provides
Backchannel lets an X user publish a minimum price and response window, receive funded text or audio requests, reply privately, and use an escrow smart contract on Robinhood Chain to settle USDG payments. We provide the interface and supporting services; we do not guarantee that any person will accept, answer, or be satisfied with a request.
Backchannel is not a bank, broker, exchange, financial adviser, or fiduciary. We do not hold your wallet credentials or control transactions you sign in your wallet.
X identity and wallets
Your Backchannel identity is tied to the X account you authorize. You are responsible for controlling that X account and all wallets you link. A wallet may be linked only after you sign a verification message. We never need your private key or seed phrase.
Wallet addresses, balances, and transactions are visible on public blockchains. Linking a wallet allows other information connected with your Backchannel account to be associated with that public address. You are responsible for gas, sufficient balances, wallet compatibility, and confirming the correct chain and transaction details before signing.
Requests, prices, and deadlines
A creator may set a minimum USDG amount, an accepted reply format, and a response window of up to 48 hours. The Service rejects offers below the recipient’s configured minimum. Funding a request does not purchase a guaranteed outcome, opinion, endorsement, or particular answer; it purchases the opportunity for the recipient to provide a response meeting the selected format within the stated window.
Follow-up payment requests create separate escrow obligations. Review the amount, recipient, deadline, token, chain, and smart-contract interaction every time you approve a transaction.
Escrow, fees, refunds, and disputes
USDG is transferred to the Backchannel escrow smart contract when a funding transaction is confirmed. When payment is released, the recipient receives 95% and a 5% protocol fee is deducted from the payout. Network gas and third-party wallet fees are separate.
An unanswered request becomes eligible for refund after its on-chain deadline. After a reply, the asker may accept it or open a dispute during the applicable review window. A dispute does not guarantee a refund. Contract state and confirmed blockchain events are authoritative for payment status; an interface or database display does not itself move funds.
Your content and conduct
You keep ownership of content you submit. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service. Public profile information and share cards may be visible outside the Service; private request and reply content is limited to the conversation participants and authorized support or service providers as necessary.
You may not use Backchannel to:
- harass, threaten, defraud, impersonate, spam, or deceive another person;
- request or distribute illegal, infringing, exploitative, or malicious content;
- manipulate disputes, evade fees, launder funds, or circumvent sanctions;
- probe, disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service; or
- misrepresent a response as professional legal, medical, or financial advice.
Third-party services and technical risk
Backchannel depends on third-party services including X, wallets, Robinhood Chain, USDG, RPC providers, hosting, and database/storage providers. Their terms and availability apply independently. We are not responsible for wallet errors, lost credentials, token or chain failures, congestion, forks, third-party outages, depegging, or irreversible transactions.
Smart contracts may contain defects despite testing. Use only amounts you can afford to lose and independently verify contract addresses before signing.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and disconnect your X session at any time. We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, investigate misuse, or maintain Service integrity. Suspension of the interface cannot reverse or erase transactions already recorded on a blockchain.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, or the accuracy or quality of user content. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Backchannel will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of profits, data, goodwill, tokens, or wallet access arising from the Service. Our aggregate liability for a claim will not exceed the greater of the protocol fees you paid to Backchannel in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or USD 100.
Changes and applicable rights
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. Material updates will be identified by a new “Last updated” date and, when appropriate, an in-product notice. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
Applicable law may provide you mandatory consumer protections and a right to bring a claim in your place of residence; these Terms do not remove those rights. Before filing a formal claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
